Selling the Van

Hi!

We are owners of a great Ford e250 1989 Coachmen registered in Colorado, US. The next months we are going to travel all the way to Chile and Argentina. Unfortunately, we will not be able to take the van with us from Panama to Colombia due to very expensive shipping.

Could anybody advise us if and how could we sell the van in any of the following countries: Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama?

Or is it best to sell the van in the US?

We will be grateful for any tips and information.

thanks!!!

Greetings!

If you’re not returning to the USA, I would sell it before you leave. It will likely sell for considerably more, and US vehicles don’t always run too well on foreign fuel.

US vehicles can also make you a target for crime in many of those countries.

Depending on the amount of time you’ll be spending in any given country, you can decide whether it would be cheaper to buy a vehicle, or to rent one. In some areas, 4x4’s might be preferable. Any empty van, bus, or box truck can be made pretty comfortable with just cheap camping equipment. Consider them a drivable tent on wheels.

Cheers!

Thanks a lot for your advice! cheers!
